Kris Barrett, Dies at 58

MASHPEE, MA - Kris W. Barrett. Captain, United States Coast Guard Reserve (Ret) 58, died at home on July 14, 2003 after a prolonged bout with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Wenda A. (Windbigler) Barrett of Eureka, CA. Mashpee has been their home for the past five years.

Born in Fresno, CA, Captain Barrett was a graduate of Atlantic City High School (1963), and Pennsylvania State University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry (1967). He also earned a Master of Science in Special Studies from George Washington University (1978), and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from The American University (1984). He has received special Coast Guard training in Marine Environmental Protection and in hazardous chemicals. He is a 1990 graduate of The United States Naval War College, "With Distinction."

Captain Barrett has been employed by Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc., headquartered in Pasadena, CA, as Corporate Director, Quality Assurance since 1991.

Captain Barrett retired in 1998 from the United States Coast Guard Reserve after 31 years of distinguished service rising to the rank of Captain.

He was a member he American Defense Preparedness Association and a Life Member of The Reserve Officers Association of the United States, Department of California.

Captain Barrett is survived by his parents, Christopher and Aline Barrett of Rockledge, FL, sisters Dee Walsh of Rocky River, OH and Judy Barrett of Cleveland, OH, plus many nieces and nephews.
