Email from Evan & Helen Stoll

Hi -- It's good to catch up with classmates after all these years. I saw Jim Townley in Portland over the Thanksgiving weekend. Next year will mark 40 years (for most of us) since we began our Coast Guard Odyssey. It also marks retirement (if what I hear is correct) for the last active member of our class. I suggested to Jim that we should marry the two events by seeing how many classmate can attend Paul's retirement. I think it might be nice to see the end of what we began together. Any thoughts?

Another thought for the website is a biographical section. After 40 years I find it interesting to find out what people have done. Where their careers went, and how they've enjoyed life. Another possibility is just a place for 'sea stories' - a memorable event at CGA or during the career. You know what I mean; things like parking in the commandant's parking space. (N.B. Yes, I did & no, it was not a good idea.)

Enjoy the holidays.

Note received from Johnny Curran

Joe,
Here's the article you asked me to write.

It sure is good to be in contact with members of the Coast Guard again; in particular The Class of '67 after a 34 year hiatus My life has had two bright spots in it since I left the Academy in 1966.

I have a daughter, Christine, age 32, who is working on her master's degree in social work at San Francisco State University in San Francisco, CA, and a son, Scott, age 28, who is one or two courses short of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Winona State University, in Winona, MN. He is currently working as a supervisor in the juvenile detention center.

I was fortunate enough to get a bachelor' degree in public accounting in 1971 from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, MN, 70 miles NNW of Minneapolis, MN.

In my heart, I have always felt that the Coast Guard Academy has always commissioned the finest and best officers in the world. I hope that you will welcome me into the Coast Guard.

Old Class Mate Rediscovered

I had the pleasure of having a long conversation with Johnny Curran tonight. He says he is doing well. I know life has been tough for him. It was great to hear him. He will have an email account before long. If anyone would like his phone number let me know.

An offer you cannot refuse!

Free! A CD with all of the class images I have collected to date from the reunion and other submittals. All you have to do is ask. Send me an email telling me where to mail the CD and I will ship. I had waited some before making this offer, thinking there would be more photos sent my way, but the supply seems to have dried up. (However, it is never too late. If you got em send em.)

Our Class web site is now fully activated. We moved the site from our old low tech host to our official web domain:

www.cga67.com

The old site has a redirection web page installed. So we are now home.....

We are official. The class is registered for an Internet Domain under the name cga67.com. For the time being, I will develop and maintain the site on this current low tech hosting site. Eventually, we will move the site to our new address. We can hold that domain name forever. Internet map for keeps.
